There are two main types—Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin. Immune-system problems and age may increase the chances of developing lymphoma.
Hodgkin lymphoma often occurs in males between the ages of 15 and 40 and over age 55 who have been infected with the Epstein-Barr virus or have a family member with Hodgkin lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma most often occurs between the ages 60 and 70 in individuals who have an auto-immune disorder, including HIV and AIDS, or who have received an organ transplant.
