Our mission statement

Maintaining operational balance through planning, preparedness, risk mitigation, response and recovery.

The emergency management teams of our legacy partners (Spectrum Health Emergency Preparedness, Beaumont Emergency Management and Lakeland Emergency Management) have combined to become Corewell Health Business Assurance. This department has been charged with maintaining operational balance during planned events or unplanned incidents.

By using a framework focused on four key domains (emergency preparedness, operational readiness, business continuity, and situation management), the Business Assurance department promotes proactive risk/opportunity identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment.

This is achieved by:

  • Analyzing the areas of risk and vulnerability
  • Developing mitigation and response plans
  • Developing a comprehensive education program
  • Managing the incident based on incident command principles through the System Command Center structure. Developing and implementing a business continuity strategy to minimize the organizational impact of planned events or unplanned incidents

Often changes in interest and support of healthcare emergency preparedness programs occur after a significant incident. We need to take advantage of those opportunities to strengthen and grow our individual programs. These resources will help raise awareness of the critical issues, best practices and provide some support as we all work to ensure our national healthcare framework is safe and ready to respond to any type or level of crisis.
