About the residency

Welcome to Corewell Health Lakeland’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. We offer a 3-year program accredited by the ACGME. Corewell Health Lakeland offers the Traditional Internal Medicine Track, which offers inpatient and outpatient care, which prepares residents for clinical practice as an internist, hospitalist, or fellowship training. The training experience is predominantly based at the main hospital in St. Joseph, MI.

We offer a well-rounded experience with a personal touch. Our low trainee-to-faculty ratios are assured to provide our residents with an intimate quality experience. Our faculty come from all over the country and have either trained or practiced in institutions such as Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Loyola University, Columbia, Henry Ford, and the University of Michigan. We are academically affiliated with Michigan State University and also have medical students from Central Michigan University.

Our main goal is to create internists, whether they are hospitalists, fellowship-trained, or outpatient clinicians, who have both confidence and competence to function in any clinical setting, including community, inner-city, rural, or academic based.
