The IR residency is an ACGME accredited integrated program that incorporates a preliminary surgical internship and comprehensive diagnostic radiology experience with the full scope of interventional radiology.
The IR residency offers extensive training by highly qualified subspecialized radiologists. During the diagnostic radiology years (PGY2-PGY4), the trainee attains a strong diagnostic radiology background with emphasis in procedures which will prepare the trainee to plan image-guided interventions. In the interventional radiology years (PGY5-PGY6), the trainee undergoes 18 weeks of IR rotations in the IR4 year, followed by 32 weeks of IR rotations in the IR5 year. In addition to the IR rotations, organized and comprehensive clinical rotations (vascular surgery, surgical ICU, outpatient interventional radiology clinic) are incorporated with the interventional radiology rotations to solidify the trainee’s clinical experience.
The aim of the residency is to provide the experiences necessary such that a graduate is proficient in the clinical practice of interventional radiology and able to succeed in either an academic or private practice environment.
All rotations done in house at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital
Not only is Corewell Health a great place to train, but it’s also located in one of the most desirable areas in Michigan. Oakland County ranks as one of the best places to live in the state, offering a vibrant and welcoming community with plenty to enjoy outside of work.
