Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Dearborn and Farmington Hills

The orthopaedic surgical residency program at Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a five-year program that encompasses general orthopaedics. Residents are prepared for the allopathic board certification examination. Residents are exposed to multiple facets of general orthopaedics including

  • Musculoskeletal trauma
  • Total joint replacement arthroplasty
  • Hand surgery
  • Arthroscopic surgery
  • Sports medicine
  • Spine surgery
  • Foot and ankle surgery
  • Pediatric orthopaedics

This residency program provides surgical experience to develop proficiency in operative and non-operative orthopaedics. The goal is to prepare residents to practice orthopaedic surgery at the end of the residency and be prepared for the certification examination by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

The training program is divided into several clinical services

  • Surgical services
  • Emergency room service
  • Office orthopaedics

Additional information

  • On-site skills lab is available
  • Casting and taping clinics are also presented to the house staff
  • Compliance with the work hours policy is strictly enforced
  • No outside rotations during the last six months of residency training
