Based at Zoo Atlanta, the Great Ape Heart Project addresses a critical need within the zoo community to investigate and understand cardiovascular disease in great apes. Dr Kutinsky, one of our “coolest” faculty members, is the cardiac advisor for the Great Ape Heart Project and co-founder of this cardiac data base. Prior fellows have participated in cardiac care for great apes including basic EP procedures in local zoos. It's a unique opportunity to help our fellow primates.
This is a prospective blinded trial to determine ventricular capture thresholds and mechanical dyssynchrony with strain imaging for patients undergoing His bundle and left bundle pacing. This fellow initiated clinical trial represents a multidisciplinary collaboration with cardiac imaging and EP. Interested fellows will participate in randomization and procedural workflow including the opportunity to participate in analysis and manuscript writing.
Each year our fellows are encouraged to submit to the HRS and ECAS. If selected to present, the program covers the cost of travel in support of his or hers hard work.
