Pulmonary Testing and Treatments

Innovation that helps you breathe easier

Respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath, persistent coughing, or wheezing can be caused by many different conditions—some of them serious. Our advanced diagnostic testing helps doctors identify the root causes of your breathing problems, so that you can get the tailored treatment and support you need.

Diagnostic testing

Blood tests

These tests measure the amount of oxygen your blood can carry, look for signs of infection or inflammation, evaluate substances in the blood, and more.

Cardiopulmonary stress testing

Tests run during physical activity that monitor your vital signs as you exercise.

Diagnostic imaging

Chest X-rays, CT scans, and other imaging help doctors find infections, tumors, fluid buildup, and other abnormalities.

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)

These tests determine how well your lungs are working and diagnose conditions like asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Options include:

  • High Altitude Simulation Testing (HAST) to determine if you need supplemental oxygen during air travel or when visiting high altitudes
  • Exhaled nitrous oxide (eNO) testing to measure the concentration of nitrous oxide in your breath when you exhale, helping doctors diagnose asthma and adjust treatment plans

Sleep studies

Sleep studies, or polysomnography, monitor breathing patterns, oxygen levels, and other vital signs to diagnose sleep disorders.

Treatments and procedures

Bronchoscopy

A camera on a thin tube examines your airway to diagnose lung conditions, collect tissue samples, or guide minimally invasive treatments (such as inserting artificial valves).

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)

A minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound and bronchoscopy to visualize and sample tissues around the airways.

Interventional pulmonology

A variety of minimally invasive procedures that diagnose and treat complex lung diseases, including lung cancer staging, airway obstruction relief, stent placement, pleural effusion management, and tumor debulking using lasers and cryotherapy.

Lung transplant

A lung transplant replaces a diseased lung with a healthy donor lung.
