The fellowship in orthopedic shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgery at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is a one-year program committed to offering an outstanding subspecialty experience in all facets of shoulder and elbow surgery. There are approximately 1500 shoulder and elbow surgeries are performed annually in the department of orthopedic surgery. It is dual-accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES_. The fellowship includes a broad experience with a high volume of shoulder arthroplasty and advanced arthroscopy.

The fellow will:

  • Be exposed to the nonoperative and operative treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders
    • This includes primary and revision arthroscopic and open reconstructive surgery for traumatic, athletic, and degenerative conditions in patients of all ages
  • Be required to complete one research project worthy of publication by the end of the fellowship year as well as submit one review paper or book chapter for publication
  • Gain outpatient experience in the Corewell Orthopedic Institute and the private offices
