Spiritual Care

Our chaplains provide compassion, comfort, and counsel to patients and families of all faiths and beliefs.

Two people supporting each other during a hard time

Corewell Health spiritual support

Health journeys can be hard sometimes. They can stir up a lot of feelings, questions, and fears. When this happens, having a caring person of faith to turn to can be a comfort. Corewell Health chaplains are trained to be that person for you and your family. Grounded in their own faith tradition, they have experience walking alongside people of all traditions — and no tradition at all. Reach out to a chaplain for help with:

  • Resolving conflicts between spiritual beliefs and recommended medical treatments
  • Handling tough feelings, stress, and grief
  • Making decisions about end-of-life care
  • Staying calm during times of crisis
  • Communicating with caregivers
  • Resolving conflicts among patients and family members
  • Feeling emotionally and spiritually supported
  • Contacting a religious leader from your own faith tradition
  • Finding spiritual resources that speak to your situation
  • Performing religious rituals (prayers, blessings, communion, etc.)

Corewell Health chapels

Each Corewell Health hospital has a chapel. These spaces are always open for anyone in need of prayer or just a quiet, peaceful space. Sabbath candles, Bibles, Qur’ans, rosaries, and communion are all available upon request. If you don't know where the chapel is located, please feel free to ask your care team.
