About Our Program

Mission statement: The mission is to produce competent entry level registered dietitians by providing the highest quality dietetic education in an environment of best practice and evidence-based care through preceptor training, multi-disciplinary education, and direct patient care.

Program goals and outcomes:

Qualifications of applicants

  • Applicants must provide official transcripts showing completion of at least a master’s degree from an accredited college or university (master’s degree must be completed before beginning the program in summer/fall)
  • Applicants without a master’s degree must be admitted to Oakland University Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Systems
  • Applicants must also submit a verification statement from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)

Minimum grade point average (GPA)

  • The minimum GPA of 3.0 must be achieved to be considered eligible for the program

Prior work experience

  • Professional experiences (paid or volunteer) are evaluated upon a point system
  • Applicants should provide relevant information outlining their completed work experience in settings such as hospitals or other health care facilities, clinical dietetics, food service, community nutrition, and any supervisory roles

Activities and organizations

  • Extracurricular activities are evaluated upon a point system
  • Leadership experience is desirable
