What excites you about your residency/fellowship at Corewell Health in West Michigan? I am most excited to refine my clinical and operative skills within this historic colon and rectal surgery fellowship program, learning directly from the time-proven experts in Grand Rapids. Beyond the exceptional training, I am thrilled to experience the culture and natural beauty of Michigan together with my wife and two young children.

Clinical interests: I am interested in maintaining a broad practice in colon and rectal surgery while also dedicating particular focus to pelvic floor dysfunction so that I can bring this excellent care back to Omaha, Nebraska where I plan to practice. 

Hobbies: As a father of two young girls, I love spending as much time with them as possible exploring the outdoors through hiking, swimming, and bike rides. Beyond family activities, I stay active through a variety of fitness pursuits, including running, cycling, and strength training.

What excites you about your residency/fellowship at Corewell Health in West Michigan? The Corewell Health - Grand Rapids/MSU Colon and Rectal Fellowship excites me because of its clinical breadth and collaborative culture. The volume and variety of cases: oncologic resections, IBD, and minimally invasive approaches. This will allow me to develop genuine technical versatility across the full scope of colorectal surgery. Equally important is the program's team-oriented environment, where attendings are invested in fellow development and collaboration across specialties is the norm. I believe that combination of rigorous training and strong mentorship is where I will grow most as a surgeon.

Clinical interests: My primary clinical interest is colorectal oncology.  I am also drawn to minimally invasive approaches, including robotic and transanal techniques, as they continue to refine oncologic outcomes. Alongside this, I have a strong interest in quality improvement and surgical outcomes research, as I believe understanding what drives complications and care variation is essential to becoming a complete surgeon.

Hobbies: Outside of medicine, I enjoy hiking, playing video games, wood working, learning Spanish and learning to play drums
