Curriculum

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital continues a tradition of excellent didactic educational opportunities in addition to an array of clinical exposures.

Residents attend:

• Weekly block lectures, presented by residents, fellows, and attendings.
  • These will include board reviews, sub-specialty lectures, etc.
• Additional board review
• Monthly journal club
• Monthly morbidity and mortality conferences
• Board review provided to students: MKSAP bi-weekly and UWORLD weekly
• CODE Blue Conferences
• MQIPS Conferences

To allow the resident to achieve their maximum potential, the resident is assigned a mentor from the attending staff, each of whom is charged with the task of meeting with the resident on a regular basis and overseeing their progress throughout their three years.

• PGY1 - 12-13 weekends per year
• PGY2 - 7-8 weekends per year
• PGY3 - 4-5 weekends per year

Call shifts are 24hr shifts on the weekends and 6am-6pm on weekdays. Residents also do 24hr shifts for holiday coverage.

Affiliations and outside rotations: Infectious Disease and Geriatrics at Corewell Health Royal Oak Campus" with Henry Ford CVICU.

• CCU (Henry Ford Hospital) (1 month)
• Nephrology (1 month)
• CVICU (Henry Ford Hospital Main Campus)
• Endocrinology (1 month)
• Infectious diseases (1 month)
• Gastroenterology (1 month)
• Geriatric internal medicine (2 weeks)
• Hematology/oncology (1 month)
• Electives (1 month)
• Clinic (1x weekly)

Year 3

• General internal medicine (5 months)
• Nights (4 weeks)
• Critical care complex (1 month)
• Rheumatology (1 month)
• Neurology (1 month)
• Outpatient clinic (1 month)
• Electives (2 months)
