Curriculum

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital continues a tradition of excellent didactic educational opportunities in addition to an array of clinical exposures.

Residents attend:

  • Weekly block lectures, presented by residents, fellows, and attendings.
    • These will include board reviews, sub-specialty lectures, etc.
  • Additional board review
  • Monthly journal club
  • Monthly morbidity and mortality conferences
  • Board review provided to students: MKSAP bi-weekly and UWORLD weekly
  • CODE Blue Conferences
  • MQIPS Conferences

To allow the resident to achieve their maximum potential, the resident is assigned a mentor from the attending staff, each of whom is charged with the task of meeting with the resident on a regular basis and overseeing their progress throughout their three years.

Resident call schedule

  • PGY1 - 7 per month
  • PGY2 - 5 per month
  • PGY3 - 4 per month

  • Clinic (1x weekly)

Year 2

  • General Internal Medicine (3 months)
  • Nights (2 weeks)
  • Critical Care Complex (1 month)
  • CCU (Henry Ford Hospital) (1 month)
  • Nephrology (1 month)
  • Infectious Diseases (1 month)
  • Gastroenterology (1 month)
  • Geriatric Internal Medicine (2 weeks)
  • Hematology/Oncology (1 month)
  • Electives (2 months)
  • Clinic (1x weekly)

Year 3

  • General Internal Medicine (5 months)
  • Nights (2 weeks)
  • Critical Care Complex (1 month)
  • Endocrinology (1 month)
  • Rheumatology (1 month)
