Family Medicine Residency Programs

Corewell Health understands that primary care is the foundation for successful health care delivery and is proud to support four Family Medicine residencies as part of its academic mission. Each of the programs has a long history of educating physicians. Although all four programs are located in Southeast Michigan, each has a unique focus and experience for learners. Each program has a unique NRMP match number and applicants are required to apply to each program separately.

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

  • 330-bed hospital with Level II Trauma status

Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital

  • 280-bed hospital, offering medical, surgical, obstetric and critical care services
  • only residency program in the hospital, accredited by the ACGME since 1974
  • 6 residents per year chosen through the NRMP
  • community health focus, with novel curriculum emphasizing health disparities, health equity, and creating meaningful community collaborations
  • very diverse patient population, our neighborhoods span from Detroit to St. Clair Shores, and beyond
  • active integrative care model with dedicated behavioral medicine faculty
  • innovative resident wellness curriculum
  • primary teaching site for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Family Medicine Clerkship

Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital

  • 520-bed hospital offering a comprehensive array of health care services, including open heart surgery, Level II Trauma Service, and a full NICU
  • only residency program at the hospital
  • offers optional tracks in Hospital Medicine, Obstetrics, and Integrative Medicine
  • osteopathic recognition available for interested residents
  • dually accredited by the ACGME since 1979 and the AOA since 2010
  • 8 residents per year chosen through the NRMP
  • serves as the department of Family Medicine for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and a primary teaching site for the Family Medicine Clerkship

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital

  • 99 In-patient bed full service hospital with Level III Trauma Status with capacity of up to 200 beds
  • partner with Detroit Metropolitan Airport and centers for disease control and prevention to handle a wide variety of health and communicable disease concerns including mass trauma and emergency patients
  • Osteopathic accreditation since 2009
  • Osteopathic educational track with single accreditation system
  • program accredited by the ACGME since 2004
  • 10 residents per year chosen through NRMP
  • affiliated with the Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
