We utilize the EPIC electronic health record system with access to all major hospital medical records in the Detroit area.

Case volume and scope

The residency provides a large surgical volume and variety of cases residents earn an increasing autonomy over the five years of training. In addition to general surgery the residents are exposed to many specialties:

  • minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and robotic cases)
  • trauma/acute care surgery
  • thoracic surgery
  • vascular surgery
  • plastic and hand surgery
  • breast surgery
  • bariatric surgery
  • colorectal surgery
  • pediatric surgery
  • surgical critical care 

Certifications

All residents will become certified in ATLS, BLS/ACLS, FLS, FES
