Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Fellowship at Royal Oak

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital offers a fellowship in the subspecialty of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery for radiation oncologists or neurosurgeons/neurotologists who wish to gain expertise and perform research in this area of radiotherapy/radiosurgery. The fellow will serve as a teacher, student, and research associate. The goals of the fellowship program is to train and educate physicians to be skillful in the practice of radiosurgery. The fellow should gain in-depth knowledge of the clinical aspects of stereotactic radiosurgery and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy, as well as standard fractionated radiotherapy as it relates to patients with CNS disorders.

The fellow should understand and demonstrate the ability to implement appropriate:

  • diagnosis
  • evaluation
  • staging
  • general treatment formulation

Understand and be able to utilize the various stereotactic immobilization techniques available and required for treatment, the specifics of imaging (equivalent to simulation), and the radiosurgery/radiotherapy planning process, as well as the treatment delivery specifications and monitoring.
