Curriculum

The physician serves twelve months in the catheterization laboratory as an interventional fellow within the Division of Cardiology.

Catheterization laboratory

Equipment in the cath lab includes state-of-the-art physiologic recorders and digital cineangiographic imaging systems. The laboratory performs routine coronary angiography, simple and complex coronary angioplasty, intra-coronary ultrasound, intra-aortic balloon insertions, primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction, thrombectomy, mechanical rotational atherectomy (MRA, Rotablator), intra-coronary stenting, mitral and aortic valvuloplasty procedures, endomyocardial biopsy, and peripheral and neuro-vascular interventions. Physiologic measurements, including coronary blood flow and vasodilator reserve, are available.

Clinic responsibilities

The interventional fellow will be assigned to a continuity clinic in order to fulfill the ABIM requirements. To graduate from the fellowship, fellows must complete the ACGME-accredited year and meet cath and PTCA criteria

    • Intracoronary ultrasound
    • Thrombectomy
    • Brachytherapy
