The Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital offers a three-year comprehensive fellowship in gastroenterology. The goal of our fellowship program is to prepare fellows for a career in clinical practice, whether in private practice or in an academic position, emphasizing consultative and endoscopic skills. Fellows are expected to participate in clinical or basic research projects, to present their research at regional and national meetings, and to publish their findings. The three-year fellowship is designed to provide the trainee with an excellent background in pathophysiology and management of gastrointestinal illness and liver disease, extensive experience and expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy and non-endoscopic procedures, and familiarity with research techniques and concepts. Fellowship training in hepatology is enhanced by our having a liver transplantation service at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. The academic aspects of the fellowship training program are enhanced by Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, being the main teaching hospital of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
Our mission is to train highly competent specialists in gastroenterology (GI fellows) who are superior in clinical knowledge, clinical practice, endoscopic procedures, academic endeavors, and research in Gastroenterology. To promote highly capable gastroenterologist-clinicians who will provide extraordinary and compassionate care in the community and to promote highly trained academic gastroenterologists who will teach and train the next generation of gastroenterologists at university hospitals.
