Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses magnetic fields and radio waves to take clear, detailed pictures of the brain, heart, organs, muscles, joints, and more. These pictures help doctors detect, diagnose, and monitor a wide range of conditions.
Uses magnetic fields twice as strong as a conventional MRI, producing more detailed images in less time.
Radiation-free images of the heart, used to identify and diagnose heart disease and damage, and guide care.
A painless and less invasive way to take detailed images of blood vessels than traditional angiography.
Ideal for children, people with claustrophobia, or anyone who may have difficulty remaining still in an enclosed space.
Women with a high breast cancer risk may benefit from a breast MRI in addition to a yearly mammogram.
Uses MRI to map brain activity, in order to develop effective plans for brain surgery and other procedures.
When scans reveal possible cancer, doctors can use MRI guidance to obtain tissue samples for further testing.
MRI of the prostate helps doctors screen for prostate cancer, diagnose abnormalities or infections, and guide treatment plans.
Most procedures take from as little as ten minutes to up to 90 minutes, depending on the type of imaging. For your visit, you will be asked to change into a gown. Please leave your jewelry and valuables at home, and make sure to check with your doctor about eating and drinking prior to the procedure. MRIs are typically not painful, though there may be some discomfort. Sometimes a mild sedation can be provided.
