Corewell Health’s commercial and individual (including Exchange) contract with UnitedHealthcare is expiring. Without a contract renewal, Corewell Health facilities and providers in Southeast Michigan will be out of network for specific commercial and individual (including Exchange) plans, starting January 1, 2026.
Corewell Health is having conversations with UnitedHealthcare to determine health care coverage rates for facility and professional services in Southeast Michigan. The outcome of this process determines how much UnitedHealthcare pays for patients who receive services from Corewell Health facilities and providers.

If you are a UnitedHealthcare member who uses Medicare or Medicaid, your coverage will not be impacted.
Without a fair rate agreement, Corewell Health might not be able to fund the gap left by UnitedHealthcare's failure to adequately reimburse the care our communities need.
If an agreement is not reached, the Corewell Health facilities and providers in Southeast Michigan, including those listed above, will become out of network for commercial and individual (including Exchange) UnitedHealthcare members, potentially requiring you to pay out-of-pocket, seek care from a different physician or at a different facility, or seek alternative health care insurance coverage options.
