Our long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) serves patients with complex medical needs requiring longer hospital stays and highly specialized care. It is designed for patients who need intense, extended care for more than 25 days due to multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. Patients receive daily physician visits and 24/7 registered nursing care at acute care staffing levels. Our comprehensive interdisciplinary team includes respiratory therapists; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; dietitians; advanced pharmacy support; and physician specialists.

Indications for referral

  • The day a patient is given a tracheostomy
  • Hospital day No. 10 and medically complex
  • The day a peripherally inserted central catheter is placed for prolonged antibiotics or total parenteral nutrition
  • Acute renal failure requiring dialysis
  • Complex wounds with VAC
  • Complex anticoagulation requiring bridging
  • Expectations that a patient will likely need ventilator support for 96 hours or greater
  • Ventilator weans
  • Need for continued acute care post-intensive or critical care
