Event description

Practical Update in Cardiology is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive review of the latest breakthroughs and advances in cardiovascular medicine. The course will focus on practical management of common cardiovascular conditions such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, aortic regurgitation, and myocardial infarction. With a combination of didactic lectures, case-based presentations, and panel discussions, faculty will discuss cutting-edge therapies as well as common challenges encountered in daily clinical practice.

Objectives

  • Discuss new approaches in mitral valve surgery
  • Review contemporary management of heart failure with preserved LV function
  • Discuss which test is best to evaluate a patient with suspected myocardial ischemia
  • Describe the use of wearable devices for diagnosis of arrhythmia
  • Discuss the role of lipoprotein (a) in cardiovascular disease
  • Discuss the use of hormone replacement therapy in patients with cardiovascular disease
