Samantha grew up in West Bloomfield, Michigan, where she discovered her love of medicine while helping out in her father’s private practice office. She later moved out west to California, Oregon, and Missouri, where she finished high school before attending University of Missouri, Columbia for her undergraduate education. She then attended Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine for osteopathic medical school. She was ecstatic to come back to Southeast Michigan for residency, where the majority of her family still resides. Her current PM&R interests include cancer rehab, neuromuscular medicine, and sports medicine.
Samantha chose Corewell Royal Oak for its supportive faculty, high volume of patients, and diversity. She values the well-rounded PM&R education that is offered at her program.
Kevin grew up in Wichita, Kansas. He studied business administration at the University of Kansas before attending medical school at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!). Outside of hospital, he loves to experiment with different types of exercise and read books across a wide range of genres. He is also a fan of board games, as he and his wife are always ready to host a board game night. He also loves trying new foods around the Detroit Metro area. His current interests within PM&R are broad.
Kevin chose Corewell Health for making him feel so welcome on interview day, its exposure to a private practice model, and for the chance to live in a bigger city with all the benefits of being in the Midwest.
Connor chose Corewell Health-Royal Oak because of the high volume of patients, exposure to private practice, and the people he met during his interview day.Connor grew up in Columbus, Ohio and studied neuroscience at The Ohio State University. He then completed medical school at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He is known for being a lifelong fan of Notre Dame and a lover of country music. Outside of medicine you can find him watching sports, spending time on the lake, or exploring Detroit. His interests in PM&R include interventional spine and spinal cord injury medicine.
Connor chose Corewell Health-Royal Oak because of the high volume of patients, exposure to private practice, and the people he met during his interview day.
Tony was born in Ypsilanti, MI and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. He studied biology at Ohio State where his fandom for the Wolverines never wavered, despite them going 0-4 during his time in Columbus. He went on to obtain his MD from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Tony was thrilled to move back to Michigan for residency. His PM&R subspeciality interests currently include spinal cord injury medicine, neuromuscular medicine, and pain medicine. In his free time, you can find him outdoors running, fishing, and hiking. He also enjoys watching football and playing euchre.
Tony’s away rotation experience influenced his decision to choose Corewell Health, Royal Oak PM&R. He saw firsthand how the close, friendly relationships amongst residents and attendings created an ideal training environment. He felt that the opportunity to serve the Metro Detroit community would expose him to a wide range of disorders and disabilities and help shape him into a well-rounded physiatrist.
Logan grew up in Rockford, Michigan and attended undergraduate at Grand Valley State University for biomedical sciences where he was also a student athlete on the rowing team. He attended Central Michigan College of Medicine for medical school (Fire Up Chips!!!). When he isn't in the hospital you can often find him out on the golf course trying to fix his slice, camping with friends, snowboarding, or doing anything involving lakes and boating. Although his interest in PM&R is currently broad, he does have a keen interest in pediatrics, brain injury, and MSK procedures.
Logan chose Corewell Health Royal Oak for its broad educational experience, the friendly staff and co-residents, and its history of training residents to enter a variety of PM&R sub-specialties.
Connor grew up in Ankeny, Iowa. He studied exercise physiology at Liberty University and then completed medical school at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Virginia. He enjoys all things sports and weightlifting. He also enjoys taking his Bernedoole, Maverick, to new breweries, wineries, and Starbucks. His interests in PM&R include neuromuscular medicine, cancer rehab, and interventional spine.
He chose Corewell Health because of his great experience on interview day, the support he knew he would receive and the ability to learn in a private practice model.
Alex grew up in northern Indiana spending whatever free time she had outside of gymnastics practice on one of her hometown’s 101 lakes. She studied Global Health at the University of Michigan where she was a member of the varsity cheerleading team. She stayed true to her maize and blue roots and earned her MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. Her current interests within PM&R include diagnosis and treatment of sports/msk injuries, ultrasound guided and interventional spine procedures, and cancer rehab. Outside of medicine you can find Alex wake-surfing in the summer, snow skiing in the winter, and cheering on her beloved wolverines at various sporting events.

Nick, named after the legendary accomplishments of former MSU and now Alabama head coach Nick Saban, grew up in the small town of Midland, MI. He chose to pursue a biochemical engineering degree at Hope College where he participated as a collegiate athlete in both swimming and diving and later club rugby. He later went on to attend Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school, specifically finding his passion for clinical musculoskeletal diseases as a sport OMT trainer for MSU athletes. He also continued his love for athletics as a member of the MSU collegiate paintball team. Nick’s specific PM&R interests currently include the subspecialities of sports medicine in addition to interventional spine procedures. In his free time, Nick can be found weightlifting, playing weekly men’s league hockey, and spending time on the several lakes of metro Detroit.
He chose Corewell Health Royal Oak for his PMR residency due to its diverse patient population, a supportive faculty, and an excellent broad-based curriculum. He believes all these factors provide residents with a strong foundational knowledge of PM&R and enables them to pursue individual academic interests.
Alex grew up in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He studied biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attended Kansas City University for medical school. He is a sports enthusiast, playing and watching as many sports as possible. His latest sports passion has been pickleball, and he travels around the country to play in tournaments. Outside sports and medicine, he enjoys trivia, craft breweries, traveling, video games, and sci-fi movies (comic book and Star Wars especially). His PM&R interests include sports medicine, musculoskeletal/spine, EMG, and traumatic brain injury.
Alex chose Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak for the supportive and team-oriented culture exhibited by residents and faculty, the well-rounded nature of the program, and the categorical set-up.
Michael is originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan and attended Oakland University in Rochester where he gained a passion for human anatomy. He pursued a career in medicine and attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. His PM&R interests include musculoskeletal injuries, interventional spine procedures, and spinal cord medicine. His favorite hobbies include weightlifting, playing video-games, bike-riding, and he spends a lot of time wishing the Detroit Lions will one day be able to put it all together and win a Superbowl.
Michael chose Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital PM&R program for the opportunity to train in and serve the community he grew up in and to become a well-rounded, confident physical medicine and rehabilitation physician.
Gabrielle grew up in the Detroit suburb of Shelby Twp and subsequently moved to her second favorite city, Chicago, to attend Loyola University. There she studied psychology, received a master's in biomedical science, and fell in love with jazz music. She then graduated from MSU's College of Human Medicine after working clinically in Flint. She was grateful to return home for residency to her favorite city and regal cat, Phoebe. Gabrielle loves to be creative and indulge in anything that makes her laugh. She is currently attempting to learn how to roller-skate after being a blader all her life. When she's feeling less adventurous, she likes to enjoy yoga, brunching with friends, and watching videos of Rihanna. Her interests in PM&R include sports, interventional spine, and ultrasound.
She chose Corewell Health for the program’s strong training in MSK medicine while still supporting diverse interests and opportunities in neuro rehab. Additionally, it was the comfortable culture and unique opportunity to learn from a private group that sealed the deal.
Raisa was born in Cameroon, West Africa, but moved to the US very young and grew up in East Lansing, MI. She studied chemistry and French at Hope College in Holland, MI, moved to Ann Arbor, and obtained a master’s in public health degree at University of Michigan, and to round out her seemingly everlasting career as a full-time student, she obtained her MD from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She has many interests - a few include traveling, eating out at various restaurants, baking (and eating her baked goods), participating in and watching sports games, and attending music concerts/festivals. If she was not destined to become a physician, Raisa would have definitely enjoyed being an unqualified traveling food connoisseur. Within PM&R, Raisa enjoys sports medicine, musculoskeletal/spine, and general PM&R. Fun fact, Raisa was a collegiate athlete, scoring goals during her 4-year run as a striker on the women's soccer team. She still plays, just has a longer recovery time.
Raisa chose Corewell Health PM&R because of the friendly and tight-knit atmosphere amongst both residents and attendings. She felt it would be a great place to get comprehensive training in PM&R with the added benefit of learning about the private practice model as a resident.
