Dear future emergency medicine physicians, colleagues, and applicants,
Welcome to Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital! On behalf of the residents, thank you for your interest in our program. We know choosing a residency is one of the most important decisions of your career, and we’d like to share why we chose to call this program home.
Our ED is the busiest in Michigan, offering both high volume and high acuity. As residents, we see an incredible breadth of pathology that has prepared us to handle anything that comes through the doors. Yet, despite the pace, the collaborative environment stands out. We truly appreciate that through the friendships and teamwork between residents, attendings, nurses, APPs, and consultants, you’re never alone to provide excellent patient care.
Wellness and community are also central to our program. Each year we step away for residency retreats focused on bonding, building life skills beyond residency, and simply recharging. Inside the hospital, we enjoy a supportive, team-based culture, a beautiful department, and (yes) some great food options to keep us fueled.
As an academic center, we’re fortunate to have outstanding resources and structured learning opportunities, but what makes us unique is the way those resources are tied directly to our community. From engaging in street medicine, to serving a diverse patient population, to actively prioritizing DEI and community outreach, we are immersed in care that extends beyond the walls of the hospital. This balance of academic rigor and true community integration is one of the reasons we’re so proud to train here.
Finally, the best part of Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is the people. We’re surrounded by colleagues and mentors who are genuinely excited to have us here, who look out for our wellbeing, and who have become our lifelong family.
In short, Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is busy, supportive, challenging, fun, and full of people who will always have your back. We couldn’t imagine training anywhere else and are excited you’re considering joining us. Best of luck on the interview trail and in finding your perfect match!
Best regards,
