Applications for residencies/fellowships must be submitted through ERAS for consideration to Match through the NRMP. 

All applications submitted through ERAS will be reviewed by the Program Director and Faculty. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be considered for an interview. Interview preference will be given to: 

• those who rotated in clinic
• base hospital students
• students who have demonstrated interest in the family medicine program

Students who have rotated in the Family Medicine Clinic may be interviewed individually by Program Director, as they are known to the faculty. Faculty and Program Director will seek input from residents, then meet and determine final rank order list to be submitted to the NRMP.

To insure standardized process for resident selection in the Osteopathic recognized family medicine program here are the minimum requirements:

Osteopathic Candidates

• must be graduated from COCA-accredited Osteopathic Medical School
• COMLEX: Step 1 minimum is 425: *Pass/Fail status accepted for exams taken after May 1, 2022
  • Step 2 PE Passed
  • Step 2 CE minimum is 425

Allopathic Candidates

• Must graduate form an LCME-accredited Medical School
• USMLE: Part 1 minimum is 225: *Pass/Fail status accepted for exams taken after January 26, 2022
• Part 2 minimum is 225

Complete the following requirements:

• completion of the "introduction of Osteopathic Medicine course" through Rowen University
• provide evidence of instruction under an osteopathic preceptor who utilizes osteopathic manipulation.  This should be a minimum of 180 hours. Preceptor will need to attest that the allopathic student understands the concepts and methods of HVLA, counterstrain, myofascial, muscle energy, and osteopathic philosophy sufficiently to engage a resident learning curriculum

OR

• completion of the “Introduction to Osteopathic Medicine course” through Rowen University
• Alternatively, non-osteopathic graduates can demonstrate completion of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s continuing education courses “Principles of Manual Medicine”, “Muscle Energy Part 1”, “Direct Action Thrust, Mobilization with Impulse”, “Integrated Neuromuscular and Myofascial Release.” Alternative courses will be considered if they can show they have the same learning objectives
• Graduates will need to demonstrate to the residency faculty an understanding of the indications, contraindications, and correct basic methodology of the following techniques: muscle energy, counterstrain, myofascial, and HVLA

Other general program requirements for applicants: 

• cannot have more than a 1-year gap between graduation and application
• US clinical experience required
