Curriculum

The fellowship year is divided into two distinct phases, and includes ongoing participation in research 

First phase 

The initial three months are intended to orient the physician to the radiation oncology department so that he/she will be able to function as a "junior attending" during the subsequent nine months. During this time, the fellow will work under the supervision of one specific attending staff physician, usually the Chief of Brachytherapy. 

 
Second phase 

The fellow will have his/her own service of approximately fifteen to eighteen patients under treatment. These patients will not be limited to only those who require brachytherapy.

During the first three months of the fellowship, the fellow may be expected to attend residency level didactic courses dealing with the specifics of physics and radiobiology. Fellow's will be expected to enroll in and successfully complete the Medical Statistics Course.

Attend all departmental conferences

• morning conference
• brachytherapy rounds
• tumor boards
• chart rounds

The fellow will be expected to present selected cases at morning conference and will help coordinate brachytherapy rounds, which are held every other Thursday.
