Simulation

Our PEM fellows regularly train in simulation monthly during the entire training duration. High-fidelity simulation equipment staffed with dedicated staff trained in simulation, to achieve mastery in rare and complicated pediatric emergency scenarios and procedures. Simulation is hands-down a favorite component of their training. This compiles 14 simulation cases for the first year of training over the year, 28 cases for the second-year fellows in sim, and 42 simulation cases during the third year of training. We also have procedure lab days four times a year with the EM department.

Our fellows expand on their simulation experience by becoming teachers themselves, running our PEM simulation case teaching as third year fellows for our Pediatric and EM residents in-situ on the Pediatric inpatient floor. This has been a wonderful experience for both teaching experience and quality/administrative experience in executing a simulation program during training.
