Diagnosis

If you suspect your child displays autistic signs and symptoms, Corewell Health Children's has a variety of programs for the assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder:

Multidisciplinary assessments and diagnosis for children and adolescents

Our Center for Human Development (CHD) clinical team is comprised of psychologists, specialists in developmental-behaviors pediatrics, and speech and language pathologists. Our comprehensive design allows for in-depth, individualized assessment and detailed recommendations. Our clinicians are skilled in diagnosing developmental disabilities (including autism spectrum disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities, and cognitive impairments).

Payment plan for comprehensive evaluations

We now offer a flexible, interest-free payment plan for self-pay families who complete multidisciplinary evaluations at CHD. Plans are managed by Corewell Health hospitals and can span up to 18 months, making payments more affordable for families.

Therapy, treatment, and programs

Corewell Health Children's offers a number of clinical autism treatment programs for children on the spectrum of disorders. These services are provided by the Center for Human Development (CHD), Center for Exceptional Families (CEF), children's speech and language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, and social work. These specialized autism treatment programs allow highly trained professionals to individualize critical and timely treatment based on the needs of a particular child.

The multidisciplinary approach offered at Corewell Health makes sure that appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment is available for families and children experiencing the challenging effects of autism.

By combining one or more of these many autism treatment programs, representing a variety of respected and differing approaches to intervention, Corewell Health's experienced and highly skilled physicians and clinicians can modify treatment as a child grows, progresses, and becomes more involved with family, friends, and the educational opportunities in the community.
