Pediatric Psychiatry

About our psychiatrists

Pediatric psychiatrists and psychoanalysts at Corewell Health's Children’s offer assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral, emotional, and developmental disorders, with special attention and sensitivity to each individual’s strengths and weaknesses. At Corewell Health’s Center for Human Development, adolescent and child psychiatrists join developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychologists, educators, and a social worker to provide a unique range of services to learning or developmentally disabled children and young adults.

Corewell Health Children’s also offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment by a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with more than 15 years of clinical experience. Treatment includes medication consultation and management, a rapidly advancing specialty area called psychopharmacology.

Among the pediatric psychiatric conditions we evaluate and treat are:

  • Anxiety
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Depression
  • Mental illness

A comprehensive psychiatric examination includes obtaining a biopsychosocial history, performing a mental status examination, ordering any additional testing, and obtaining records (with parental permission) from the child’s school, pediatrician, and other agencies as indicated.

Our pediatric psychiatrists are also involved in resident and medical education at Wayne State University and Corewell Health hospitals. In addition, they frequently serve the community as medical experts by lecturing at schools and churches on anxiety and depression in children.
