Virtual Urgent Care: Right Where You Are

A family gathered around a table, sharing a meal and enjoying each other's company.

Summer is in full swing, complete with backyard projects, road trips, and get-togethers. Imagine a minor illness or injury creeps in to interrupt your plans. Not an uncommon story since summer is a peak time for allergies, bug bites, sprained ankles, and injuries related to playing in parks and other fun-in-the-sun activities. The fact is, unforeseen injuries or illnesses can cut trips short, have you scrambling for transportation, or calling in last-minute favors to watch the dog.

The good news is, you have far easier and more appropriate options that won’t have you rushing off to the emergency room or waiting until morning to get care.

Choosing the right care

Our symptom checker guide can help you choose the right same-day care option for you. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911 or go to the emergency room.

Corewell Health Virtual Urgent Care won't break the bank either. You'll pay no more than $45, and it's free with most Medicaid plans. And Virtual Urgent Care providers can send prescriptions to your pharmacy if needed.

Be prepared for your Virtual Urgent Care visit

Scheduling a Virtual Urgent Care visit is simple, even without a Corewell Health MyChart account. However, an account lets you access confidential medical information from your visits. Creating a MyChart account is recommended for smooth appointment scheduling and access to essential information.

Virtual Urgent Care is available for patients aged 2 and up. Patients aged 12 and up need to have their own MyChart account for video visits.

Next, you’ll need an iOS or Android device, or a computer with a microphone, camera, and speaker.

Have your photo ID ready for the virtual check-in and keep your payment method handy, as you might need to pay for the visit.

For those aged 2 to 17, a parent or guardian must accompany or give consent for the visit.

Same-day care options

For serious or life-threatening conditions, go to the nearest emergency department right away. If you're experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, or other serious symptoms, seek immediate in-person care, including calling 911 or going to the emergency room.

Some conditions, like sprains, fractures, or head injuries, may require a physical examination and diagnostic imaging that cannot be performed virtually.

Next time you or your family need immediate care and don’t want to disrupt your day, consider Virtual Urgent Care. One patient shared on the survey, “The doctor I saw was extremely nice and understanding, and took care of my problem. It was so nice to be able to have it taken care of right away and not have to worry about missing work to go in to the doctor. I would use this again in a heartbeat.
