Resident and Fellow Culture, Unity & Belonging in Education

At Corewell Health in West Michigan, we are driven to create a culture where every resident or fellow physician, faculty member, and medical student feels they belong, both within our organization and in the communities we serve.

Creating an interconnected, collaborative culture where all are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work is vital to the health of our organization. As a health system, we advocate for respect and understanding as we care for our patients, our communities, and each other. We strive to celebrate the unique differences and perspectives of all people in our workforce, workplace, leadership, faculty, and programs.

Resident and fellow focused initiatives and events include:

  • Cultural subcommittee groups
  • Accessible lending library in the resident lounge
  • Resident and Fellow CUBE Communities – resident and fellow-led experience-based gatherings open to all house staff
  • Cultural competency workshops
  • Culture, Unity & Belonging in Education (CUBE) monthly newsletter
  • Belonging resources and events are shared on a dedicated intranet
