The Corewell Health Lakeland Office of Medical Education is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic learning environment that promotes professional growth and clinical excellence for medical students and future residents. We prioritize mentorship, cultural humility, and the thoughtful distribution of educational resources to empower learners to thrive throughout their training. Our programs are designed to prepare emerging physicians to serve communities with integrity, empathy, and a deep understanding of the human experience—laying a strong foundation for success in residency and beyond.
The Pathways to Medicine Scholarship, offered through the Corewell Health Lakeland Office of Medical Education, supports fourth-year medical students participating in our Visiting Learner Program. This opportunity enhances clinical learning, fosters professional development, and builds meaningful connections through mentorship and training.
At its core, the Visiting Learner Program enriches medical education and strengthens clinical practice by cultivating a respectful and inclusive learning environment where participants are empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the communities they serve.
We recognize that each learner brings a unique story shaped by personal challenges, life experiences, and individual perspectives. Through this scholarship, we support aspiring physicians who demonstrate resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving others. These experiences help shape professional identity, reinforce core values, and inspire a purposeful approach to patient care. Our programs are designed to nurture these qualities, preparing physicians to lead with integrity, cultural humility, and a strong sense of purpose in any clinical setting.
