Medical Student Rotations at Wayne

Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital and Corewell Health Wayne Hospital serve as clinical campuses for Wayne State University School of Medicine third-year students. All required and elective rotations are scheduled by the medical school.

Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital offers elective rotations to fourth-year students from all accredited medical schools.

Family medicine

• Provides an opportunity to experience the types of patients seen in family practice and the clinical methods used by family physicians 

Podiatry

Email the clerkship director to request a rotation and determine availability. Provide your preferred months, medical school and phone number. The application form and attachments are required to schedule the rotation.

• Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance
• Applications are not accepted or processed June 1 – August 1
• Elective rotations are not offered in June, July, August, and December 
• Students are notified by email when rotation has been scheduled or denied
• All rotations begin on the 1st of the month, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday, then the rotation begins on the next business day
• All electives are scheduled for four weeks
• Corewell Health does not sponsor visas for medical students  

Dress code

• All students must wear a white jacket
• Male students should wear a dress shirt and tie, female students a professional blouse, and dress pants or skirt; denim is not allowed
