The orthopedic adult reconstruction - shoulder and elbow fellowship at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has an overall goal of providing a well-rounded fellowship year with equal emphasis placed on gaining clinical experience, developing investigative skills and engaging in high quality research, and the dissemination of knowledge through teaching.

Goals and objectives

  • Improvement of clinical skills through comprehensive training in the nonoperative and operative management of the full spectrum of disorders of the shoulder and elbow
    • Will include athletic, traumatic, and degenerative conditions in patients of all ages
  • Contribution to the current body of knowledge through scholarly activity including basic laboratory and clinical research
    • May be through involvement with ongoing studies or through new, fellow-initiated projects
  • Fellows will educate other orthopedic surgeons by presenting at local, regional, and national meetings
  • Preparation of the fellow to pursue a career in academic medicine or private practice by acquiring all the skill sets necessary to practice high quality shoulder and elbow surgery in any setting
