Putting kids’ safety first

The Child Advocacy and Protection (CAP) team was created to advocate on behalf of all children in cases of suspected physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or other forms of harm.

Families often come to us during an incredibly difficult and traumatic period. Our priority is to make sure they always feel supported and provide their children with the full range of physical, medical, and emotional care they deserve, while also offering legal support and protection.

Our services

Community education and abuse prevention

We participate in programs about child abuse and neglect prevention and educate health care professionals, child welfare workers, and members of the community about child welfare issues.

Medical consultations

A specialist on our team conducts a comprehensive medical evaluation that addresses physical and psychosocial concerns. During the evaluation, the specialist differentiates between signs of abuse and other common medical conditions that mimic child abuse. We take great care to make kids feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

Referrals to community agencies and services

We connect children and their caregivers to the local resources they need through our partnerships with community organizations and children’s advocacy groups.
