Praveen G. Thadani is president of Priority Health, the health plan of Corewell Health that is nationally recognized for improving the health and lives of its members.

With more than 1.3 million members, Priority Health is the second-largest health plan in Michigan and the third-largest provider-sponsored health plan in the U.S.

Praveen is a transformative health care leader with more than 25 years of industry experience. As president, Praveen has pioneered value-based initiatives that have enhanced the customer experience while fostering sustainable growth. Driven by his passion to provide value to health plan members and ensure customers have what they need to get, be and stay healthy, Praveen continues to lead Priority Health toward new frontiers of success.

Prior to joining Priority Health in 2021, he held a variety of senior leadership positions with national health plans, including Humana, Optum and UnitedHealthcare. His extensive background and strategic foresight significantly impacted the health care and coverage landscape. Early in his career, he helped develop a patented insurance platform — Interactive Health Insurance System — designed to activate consumer decision-making at the point of service.

Praveen holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Master of Science in health systems management from Rush University.

Praveen’s expertise in navigating market landscapes, fostering strategic alliances and implementing visionary strategies has consistently driven operational excellence within our system and the organizations he supports. Praveen serves on the board of directors for Alliance of Community Health Plans (executive committee), Detroit Economic Club and The Economic Club of Grand Rapids, among others. He also serves on the advisory board for Grand Valley State University’s College of Health Professionals.

As a thought leader, Praveen frequently speaks on the value of integrated systems and value-based approaches. He was recently named a Crain’s Detroit Business Health Care Hero and has been a recipient of the Bernard Tyson Award for Excellence in Health Equity by Alliance of Community Health Plans and the Spirit of Detroit Award by Detroit City Council.
