Why did you choose Lakeland's Family Medicine Program: I chose Lakeland because of the incredible people I met and the meaningful experiences I had while auditioning as a medical student. Every program says they're like a family, but at Lakeland, it truly felt that way. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and easy to connect with—they really made me feel like I belonged, even during my short time there. I also fell in love with the culinary medicine program, which was such a unique and inspiring part of the experience. On top of that, the program’s strong focus on resident wellness really stood out to me. And as a bonus, being close to my hometown in Canada makes it all the more special!

It provides me the opportunity to further my skills in family medicine as well as focus on areas that interest me within medicine such as osteopathic medicine, addiction medicine, and lifestyle medicine. The rural surrounding areas, as well as kind and supportive faculty and residents made me feel right at home in St. Joseph. Why did you choose Lakeland's Family Medicine Program: I auditioned at the program and basically fell in love with it instantly. It has everything I wanted for my training and didn’t think would exist at one program. A heavy emphasis on OMM, training in preventative medicine, culinary medicine, rural leanings. Everyone was super welcoming, and I was comfortable there. It felt like home. I also really liked the location. I had not spent any time on this side of the state before, but I think I may be a west side girl! Lots of open land where you don’t have to see your neighbor, but also no more than 10 minutes from the grocery store.
