Between the different opportunities to learn and give back to the community, this program was unbeatable. My husband Bailey and I both really wanted a program with Lifestyle Medicine and this program has the best curriculum I have seen. Lastly, I have always wanted to return to my roots in Michigan and make a life for myself.

As a student who did not do an audition rotation here, they took extra time to show me the values of the program and what it had to offer. My personal interests that this program offers include rural health, OMM/OMT, sports medicine, and culinary medicine. The location provides new experiences for me to explore, as I look forward to playing sand volleyball and exploring the beaches and local farmers' markets.

Every program says they're like a family, but at Lakeland, it truly felt that way. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and easy to connect with—they really made me feel like I belonged, even during my short time there. I also fell in love with the culinary medicine program, which was such a unique and inspiring part of the experience. On top of that, the program’s strong focus on resident wellness really stood out to me. And as a bonus, being close to my hometown in Canada makes it all the more special!

Why did you choose Lakeland's Family Medicine Program: I auditioned at the program and basically fell in love with it instantly. It has everything I wanted for my training and didn’t think would exist at one program. A heavy emphasis on OMM, training in preventative medicine, culinary medicine, rural leanings. Everyone was super welcoming, and I was comfortable there. It felt like home. I also really liked the location. I had not spent any time on this side of the state before, but I think I may be a west side girl! Lots of open land where you don’t have to see your neighbor, but also no more than 10 minutes from the grocery store.
