Kevin Van was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Colorado before moving to Michigan to pursue his medical education at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He has a strong passion for LGBTQIA+ health, HIV medicine, community medicine, and preventative care, with a focus on building inclusive and accessible approaches to healthcare. Outside of medicine, Kevin enjoys spending time with his corgi, Oliver, and finds joy in creative and community-driven outlets such as singing with the Detroit men’s chorus, PRISM. An avid snowboarder and food enthusiast, he loves exploring new restaurants, and when not on the slopes or dining out, he can often be found restoring and flipping mid-century house furniture.
Lena Bazzi was born and raised in Dearborn, MI. She attended Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with departmental and university honors. She went on to earn her degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Bazzi is passionate about full spectrum family medicine with particular interest in women’s health, lifestyle medicine, underserved population health, and medical education and leadership. Outside of medicine she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, pottery and wheel throwing, spending time with friends and family, and exploring restaurants in the metro Detroit area.
Maggie Wright was born at this very hospital is excited to return as a resident and give back to the community that helped shape her. She completed medical school in Florida, where she also earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition. Her passion for preventive care and the connection between nutrition and overall health continues to guide her clinical interests. Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, boating, reading, and spending time with her family.
Tasnia Kabir was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Bangladesh Medical College. After living in Canada, she relocated to the United States to pursue her residency.
Tasnia's professional interests are focused on women's health and sports/community medicine. In her free time, she enjoys cooking for friends and family, staying fit, and exploring new places.
Sarah was born and raised up north in Alpena, MI. She obtained her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish from Albion College before going on to earn her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her professional interests include LGBTQ+ health, community medicine and education, and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new recipes and restaurants, and cheering on any Detroit sports team.
Ayushi was born in India and moved to Michigan at the age of 2. She attended Nova Southeastern University for her undergraduate degree in biology and her minor in English literature. During her gap year, Ayushi worked as a secretary at the Eugene Applebaum College of pharmacy and health sciences at Wayne State University. She continued on to obtain her medical degree at Central Michigan University. Ayushi’s professional interest include adolescent medicine, women’s health, and academic medicine. In her free time, Ayushi enjoys spontaneous day trips, being a menace to her cat Kevin, and attempting to cook without setting off the fire alarm.
Kiara was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University where she obtained a degree in human biology. She then went on to complete her medical degree at Wayne State University. Kiara's professional interests include: community medicine, women's health, and preventative medicine. In her free time Kiara can be found sleeping or spending time with her family.
Valerie Benedict was born in Ann Arbor Michigan. She attended Antioch College and graduated with a degree in biomedical science. She completed her master's degree at Wright State University and graduated with a degree in Anatomy. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State College of Osteopathic medicine. Her professional interests include integrative medicine, community medicine and medically underserved populations. Outside of work she enjoys painting, rock-climbing, kayaking and hiking.
Elina grew up in Israel and graduated from Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She later earned a Master’s degree in Health Administration from Bar-Ilan University while working as a clinic manager, practicing aviation medicine, and teaching as a lecturer in a nursing school. Her professional interests include community and preventive health, lifestyle and sleep medicine, and procedures. Outside of work, Elina treasures time with her husband and their three daughters- whether traveling, cooking, reading or creating new adventures together. She believes that good health means not only caring for the body but also making space for joy and laughter.
Nida Haider was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States at the age of 15. She attended University of Michigan-Dearborn where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Philosophy. She earned her medical degree from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Her professional interests include community and hospital medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching horror movies, suspense thrillers, and space videos, and traveling.
Grace was born in Iraq and moved to the United States at age 13 and has since called Michigan home. She completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, earning a degree in microbiology, and went on to receive her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). Her clinical interests include integrative medicine, community medicine, academic medicine, and geriatric medicine. She is passionate about providing comprehensive, patient-centered care and is dedicated to promoting wellness and prevention in her community. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, collecting souvenir mugs, and exploring new coffee shops and restaurants.
Najah Joseph was born in San Francisco, CA. She attended the University of California, Davis where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology with a minor in Sociology. She worked as a research assistant before she earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. Her professional interests include global health, women's health, community medicine, and hospital-based medicine. In her free time, she enjoys playing music, listening to podcasts, being outdoors, archery, reading, and spending time with her family, fish, and two cats Appa and Eevee.
Yasir was born in Sudan. He graduated from the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine then completed a residency in OBGYN. He practiced OBGYN for several years back in Sudan. He then moved to Michigan with his family and children. His areas of interest include community medicine, medical education, primary care and women's health. In his free time, he enjoys photography and spending times with friends and family.
Scotti was raised in Oak Park, MI. She attended Wayne State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in the Biological Sciences with University Honors. After obtaining an undergraduate degree, Scotti took a gap year which she worked as an ABA technician with children on the Autism Spectrum. She attended medical school at the University of Southern California. Her professional interests include Women's Health, HIV medicine, and community medicine. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, and trying new restaurants.
Alisha was born in Ann Arbor, MI. She attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree where she double majored in Human Biology and Women's and Gender Studies. She then earned her medical degree at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Kalid Badran was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to Amman Jordan during his adolescence. He attended the University of Michigan - Dearborn campus and graduated with a degree in Health Policy Studies with a focus on Health Administration. He worked as a public health officer before going on to attend Ross University School of Medicine for his medical school education. His professional interests include global health, public health, sleep medicine, sports medicine, and working with underserved communities. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, trying new recipes to cook and reading science fiction/fantasy short stories.
Stephanie Icabone was born in Livonia, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physiology. After working as a medical scribe in Grand Rapids for a year, she earned her medical degree from Oakland University William Beaumont. Her professional interests include community medicine, women’s health, education, and community health. Stephanie enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and backpacking, trying new restaurants, and of course spending time with her two cats; Miso and Nori.
Megan Knuth was born in Livonia, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and graduated with a degree in political science. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her professional interests are sports medicine, procedures and education. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her large family and numerous nieces and nephews. She loves exploring local markets, cooking with seasonal ingredients, and walks around the community with her dog Ziggy.
Sarah was born in Egypt and then moved to Saudi Arabia when she was young. She attended Assiut University, Faculty of Medicine. She completed her residency and obtained a Master's Degree in OB/GYN. Her areas of interest include primary care and women's health in general. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son, trying new restaurants, traveling to new places, learning about different cultures and watching soccer games.
Daniel was born in Grosse Pointe, MI. He attended the University of Michigan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Creative Writing. He then obtained a Master of Science in Physiology at Georgetown University. After working for a year as a laboratory technician, he moved to Mississippi to attend the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. His professional interests include geriatric medicine, community medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). He enjoys running, spinning classes, paddle boarding and board games.
Arshpreet Saraan was born in Novi, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience (BCN). She then went onto Central Michigan University College of Medicine for her medical school education. Her professional interests include Community Medicine, Psychiatry, Behavioral Medicine, and Social Disparities in Healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and discovering new restaurants. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Jason was born in southeast Michigan, born and raised on the banks of the Paint Creek before majoring in Biological Sciences at Wayne State University in the heart of Detroit. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His professional interests include sports medicine, global health and quality improvement. His passions are gardening, golfing, fishing, enjoying what pure Michigan has to offer and cheering on the Lions and Tigers.
Paramveer Swaich was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in Canton, Michigan. He moved to midtown Detroit and attended Wayne State University for his undergraduate and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology Honors with a minor in Biology. He stayed at Wayne State University and graduated with a Master of Science in Basic Medical Sciences. He then earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His professional interests include sports medicine, dance medicine, urgent care, community medicine and volunteering in underserved communities. In his free time, he enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants in Detroit and spending time with his wife and family (including his border collie mix, Royce.)
