Curriculum

Core program

The principal educational method utilized is one-to-one mentorship. The fellow will rotate among the teaching staff on a quarterly basis, participating in surgery and outpatient clinics. The fellow will be given ample opportunity to work independently with supervising attending staff immediately available at all times.

The educational program will include

  • A weekly indications conference (pre-operative planning and post-operative radiographic critique and assessment)
  • A monthly arthroplasty journal club
  • Presentation of one case with literature review at the monthly Morbidity and Mortality Conference
  • Attendance at the annual American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons' meeting
  • Preparation and presentation of at least one publishable paper at the annual Corewell Health Orthopedic Research Forum
  • Preparation and submission of at least one abstract to the annual American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS) meeting and/or other society meetings such as the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) annual meeting

  • Monthly morbidity and mortality (M & M) conference
  • Adult reconstruction in-training (OITE) question review
  • Arthroplasty bioskills laboratory 
  • Gross anatomy, hip and knee dissection
