A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that allows you to support the causes you care about most—now and in the future. Many individuals, families, and advisors use DAFs as a convenient and flexible way to manage their philanthropy. Through your DAF, you can very easily support the work of Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan, including Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Foundation.
You may choose to support a specific area, such as Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, cancer care and research, behavioral health, cardiovascular services, medical education, or another area of impact that is most meaningful to you. Or, you may make an unrestricted gift to address areas of greatest need.
Making a Gift Through Your Donor-Advised Fund
To recommend a grant, contact your DAF provider and designate your gift to Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan (EIN 38-2752328). When making your recommendation, you may specify a particular fund or area of care you would like your gift to support.
When making your gift:
- Designate the area you would like your gift to support or allow the foundation to apply it where the need is greatest. Please contact us if you would like guidance on selecting a designation.
- Notify us when you recommend a grant, as DAF providers do not always share complete donor information. Doing so helps ensure your gift is designated according to your wishes and allows us to properly acknowledge your generosity.
Don't Have a Donor-Advised Fund?
Opening a Donor Advised Fund is often quick and easy. DAFs can be established through organizations such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, and many local and regional community foundations. Once your fund is established, you can contribute assets and recommend grants to qualified nonprofit organizations whenever and wherever you choose.
Leaving a Legacy through your Donor-Advised Fund
In addition to supporting current charitable priorities, a Donor Advised Fund can also play an important role in your legacy planning. Many donors choose to name the foundation as a beneficiary of their Donor Advised Fund, creating a future gift that will continue to advance exceptional care, groundbreaking research, and healthier communities for generations to come.
