Women’s Health Care Classic raises nearly $300,000 to support breast care services
More than 250 golfers, sponsors, volunteers and community supporters gathered this summer for the annual Women’s Health Care Classic, raising nearly $300,000 to support women’s health services at Corewell Health hospitals in Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne.
For more than three decades, the Women’s Health Care Classic has brought together community members who share a commitment to improving breast health care across Southeast Michigan. Since its founding, the event has raised nearly $7.8 million to support programs and services that help women receive timely, high-quality care close to home.
“This event represents the very best of what can happen when a community comes together to help others,” said Ryan Daly, president of Corewell Health Foundation Southeast Michigan. “The generosity of our sponsors, participants and volunteers continues to make a meaningful difference for women and families throughout our region.”
The event was founded by Jan Fitzgerald, the late Dolores Pfeffer and the late Nancy Zakar, whose shared vision helped strengthen breast care services while supporting patients and families during every stage of their journey.
Funds raised from the morning and afternoon golf rounds will support more than 500 women diagnosed every year at Corewell Health hospitals in Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton, and Wayne. The event supports a broad range of offerings including 3D mammography, expanded access to screenings, nurse navigation services, social work support and assistance for under- or uninsured patients.
“Medicine never stops evolving, which means we are always working toward bringing the latest treatments, the most advanced technologies and the most supportive services to our hospitals,” said Bethany Parish, senior director of oncology for Corewell Health East. “Support from events like the Women’s Health Care Classic helps make that possible.”
