We’re honored for all Corewell Health West Michigan Hospitals to be recognized as “High Performers” by the Human Rights Campaign’s 2024 Healthcare Equality Index. This designation is awarded based on policies and practices related to equity and inclusion for patients, families, and employees.
To earn the “Safe and Affirming” designation, health professionals individually complete an online training program developed by the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center. The training covers a variety of clinical and cultural topics—such as proper terms, how to use pronouns, and much more—with the goal of reducing gaps in care, increasing trust, and building intentional connections with the LGBTQIA+ community.
