The way to better heart health

Your care team may refer you to a cardiac rehabilitation program if you have had a heart transplant, heart or valve surgery, a catheter-based procedure for stents or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), or you have a history of heart failure, angina or heart attack.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program rooted in exercise and risk factor education, and many of our programs are certified by the American Association of Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Our programs are designed to give you the information, tools, and confidence you need to improve your health. Our experts will work closely with you, creating a personalized care plan based on your needs.

Treatments we provide

Corewell Health’s cardiac rehabilitation team offers a variety of services and programs to those with cardiovascular disease or at high risk of developing it.

Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP)

This therapy is designed to improve blood flow to the heart using leg cuffs that inflate and deflate while you relax.

Metabolic wellness and cardiac fitness programs

Our programs help manage conditions like high cholesterol and diabetes through diet, exercise, and key lifestyle changes.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) program

This multidisciplinary approach brings together specialists from cardiology, rehabilitation, and neurology, among others, to manage symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients with POTS, a condition where the heart rate increases significantly upon standing. Treatment could include lifestyle adjustments, medications (link to medication management), physical therapy (link to rehab/pt), and counseling (link to behavioral health)

Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation (ICR) (available in West Michigan)

Corewell Health partners with Pritikin ICR to target your specific diagnoses and develop a program that assists in lifestyle modifications, rehabilitation, and improved quality of life.

Supervised exercise training (SET) for peripheral artery disease (PAD)

With our experts by your side, this program builds strength, improves heart function, and helps reduce symptoms of peripheral artery disease.
