Burn Center Services for Children

Our burn center provides the most advanced treatment options for burns, no matter how extensive and severe, right here. Our team includes specialists trained in burn care for children. Our goal is to not just address your child's physical needs, but we know it's important to care for the psychological and social aspects of your child's life as well.

Our team approach also makes it possible for us to address the many interrelated problems often associated with advanced burn injuries. When you want care for the whole child, and treatment for everything that a burn can affect, turn to our burn center.

You'll find continued care for your child after they leave the hospital, with a burn clinic for outpatient care.

Often, a part of complete treatment for a severe burn includes plastic surgery or other ways to enhance your child's skin after a severe burn.

When your child has recovered physically, he or she will return to school and social settings. As part of our whole patient care, we provide help for your child to prepare for social interactions and guide him or her in returning to school and social activities.

Kids Burn Camp is a special week for kids ages seven through 17 who have suffered burn injuries. Created in collaboration with the YMCA's Camp Manitou-Lin, the camp is designed to help kids heal, physically and emotionally. The camp provides a safe, therapeutic place for your child to meet kids like him or her.

It's important for children to be with other kids who have experienced the same injuries, as well as the painful rehabilitation and social consequences that are a part of recovering from a serious burn injury. Along with the regular kids camp activities like horseback riding, canoeing and crafts, your child can gain social confidence and the ability to cope with life after being burned.

Thanks to generous donations from your community, any child treated at a burn center anywhere in Michigan is eligible to attend Kids Burn Camp at no charge.
