Family Medicine Residency Tracks

The Family Medicine Residency Program offers diverse and enriching tracks designed to help residents tailor their training to their professional interests. Whether you're drawn to the principles of Lifestyle Medicine, the hands-on approach of Osteopathic Medicine, the rewarding field of Obstetrics, or the world of Sports Medicine, each track provides focused education, mentorship, and practical experience. These pathways empower residents to deepen their expertise and expand their impact in the communities they serve—both during residency and beyond.

Lifestyle medicine

The Designated Osteopathic Resident (DOR) Curriculum serves as a structured pathway for residents to deepen their understanding and application of Osteopathic Medicine. Through a combination of focused didactics, hands-on training, and dedicated mentorship, the curriculum fosters the development of osteopathic medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional identity. It is designed to support residents in integrating osteopathic principles into patient care while promoting lifelong learning and leadership within the osteopathic community.

Obstetrics

Our Obstetrics Track equips residents with the comprehensive skills necessary to confidently provide obstetrical care beyond residency. Under the mentorship of experienced Obstetricians, residents will complete a minimum of three local Labor and Delivery rotations, along with a high-volume away elective to broaden clinical exposure. The curriculum includes quarterly presentations to the OB office, fostering communication and collaboration, and hands-on participation in high-risk and emergency simulations in our state-of-the-art Accredited Simulation Training Center. This immersive training ensures residents are well-prepared for independent practice in diverse obstetrical settings.

Sports medicine

Our Sports Medicine Training Track offers residents exposure to the field of sports medicine. Residents participate in medical management of major regional sporting events and engage in community-based sports wellness initiatives. These include conducting pre-participation physical examinations for high school athletes, providing team sport coverage, and working in the training room with the track director. As part of their academic development, residents will complete and present a sports medicine-related research project and attend the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Annual Conference, fostering both scholarly growth and professional networking.
