Culinary medicine integrates nutrition and treatment in the care of patients, truly embodying the idea that "food is medicine". We highly value this experience as "lifestyle modifications" are first-line treatments and prevention for many chronic diseases.
In our culinary medicine didactics, we use curriculum from Health Meets Food, each session focusing on different areas of medicine such as chronic disease, inflammatory diseases, sports medicine, pediatrics, mental health, and many other topics. After group discussions and casework, we work with real chefs in teaching kitchens, learning culinary skills while cooking recipes related to the topic discussed. Incorporating casework and culinary skills, we are better able to provide our patients with knowledge about both what to eat for their health and how to cook it.
