Research and Quality Improvement

two residents at physical medicine rehabilitation conference

Our residents are expected to participate in one quality improvement project as a graduation requirement.

For those interested in research, residents partner with faculty and research mentors to learn the process of formulating a research question, performing background research, writing an abstract and protocol, all the way to writing and submitting a manuscript for publication. Alternatively, residents may choose to conduct a quality improvement project with faculty mentorship often satisfying the ABPMR requirement for a QI project while they are still residents.

Our residents are also encouraged to complete case report abstracts for submission to regional or national meetings.
