Director's Message

A message from the program director

Dear applicant,

Are you looking for a program that can provide you strong clinical training in Michigan's busiest emergency department? Does a diverse, high-volume and high acuity patient population with an emphasis on critical care sound appealing? How about an on-site children's hospital with dedicated fellowship trained pediatric faculty educators? Then look no further, because Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, is the place for you.

Danielle Turner-Lawrence, MD wearing a black and pink shirt with gray pants, representing a professional setting in a medical environment.

The EM residency program, which began in 1984, has a long standing tradition of producing excellent emergency medicine physicians. Our three-year training program is rooted in a supportive and collaborative teaching environment with vested, energetic teaching faculty. From day one, you will care for the sickest patients and gain procedural confidence early in your training. Added exposure to ultrasound, simulation, teaching, and EMS, will provide a well rounded experience. Your knowledge base will be solidified with comprehensive didactics that encompass multiple teaching styles, including hands-on education, flipped classroom, team-based and asynchronous learning. Two months of electives will afford you opportunities to further explore your personal EM interests, including possibilities within global health. Lastly, opportunities for scholarly activity can be found within our busy research division.

As your program director, I am personally committed to your education, your well-being and furthering our program's mission of producing outstanding clinicians and future leaders. Our residency leadership prides itself on being responsive to your needs and innovating to stay on the cutting edge of education. As we continue to grow and innovate as a program, we are looking for hardworking, down-to-earth residents who want to join our tight-knit Beaumont family.

We will begin reviewing ERAS applications for the 2023 Match on September 28, 2022. We will be interviewing candidates virtually and require one standardized letter of recommendation (eSLOE). Our first round of interview offers will be released in early/mid October 2022.

Please return to our website for any updates or feel free to follow us on facebook or instagram. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. I look forward to meeting you on the interview trail.

Sincerely,

Danielle Turner-Lawrence, MD
