Corewell Health Ludington Hospital brings the resources of Corewell Health to your community — always with a caring, compassionate approach. Through the contributions of our supporters, we can ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care without having to travel far, making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
Established following the tremendous support of the 2025 Corewell Health Ludington Hospital Gala, the Michele Schoon RN Apprenticeship and Nursing Endowment will support Ludington’s nursing workforce, both today and in the future. The Pre-Licensure Nursing Apprenticeship Program is the first program of its kind in the nation, made possible by a collaboration with Westshore Community College and MichiganWorks West Central. Together, we’ll provide the next generation of Ludington nurses with opportunities to build their skills within our rural community hospital, impacting lives and keeping local talent right here at home. For our current nurses, the endowment will support talent retention and professional growth through increased educational and empowerment opportunities, as well as enhancements to well-being and workplace safety.
Philanthropy supported the construction of an outdoor respite area for both patients and team members to enjoy. Located just outside the café, this calm and quiet area provides families with a place to rest in the fresh air, as well as a space for team members who need a peaceful moment during a difficult shift.
Established just one year ago, the Crane Haven Cancer Care Center Wellness Endowment provides resources and comfort to patients receiving care at Ludington Hospital at no charge. Offerings include salon services, massages, acupuncture, music therapy, art therapy, and more. Your support of this endowment made it possible for a patient to find relief and comfort during treatment: “For the first time, I don't feel pain in my body!" A patient exclaimed, as they broke down in tears while leaving the massage therapy room.

The 17th Annual Corewell Health Ludington Hospital Gala raised over $123,000 to establish the Michele Schoon RN Apprenticeship and Nursing Endowment, supporting both current and the next generation of nurses at Ludington Hospital. Scott Smith received the 2025 Justus and Paulina Stearns Legacy Award, which is given to those who demonstrate exceptional leadership and lasting impact on Ludington Hospital and the community.

Philanthropy supports cancer patients who are facing financial hardship or barriers in their medical care, right here at Ludington Hospital. Your generosity helps them in their darkest hours, providing comfort and relief so they can focus on recovery.
A patient was facing one of the toughest battles of her life — stage 4 cancer. The diagnosis was overwhelming, and the high cost of her necessary medication made things even harder. Despite her strength and determination, the financial burden threatened to stand in the way of her treatment. She had very large copays for treatment and medications, leaving her with little for other necessities. Philanthropy was able to assist her with her mortgage payment to help offset the expensive medical needs, ensuring she could receive her treatment.
