Your support brings important mental health services to students at seven high schools in our community through the virtual clinics located in the buildings. Philanthropy supports financial assistance for students who do not have access to their parent’s insurance or are under insured.
In September 2024, Corewell Health Greenville Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony for the W.H. Braman Cancer Care Center, made possible by a generous gift from Bill Braman’s estate. This new facility will offer comprehensive wellness services and state-of-the-art cancer treatment close to home. The expansion will increase infusion and exam spaces to meet growing demand and include a wellness and education center with a resource library, acupuncture, massage, yoga, music and art therapy, and a Beautiful You salon and wig services.
In 2024, Greenville’s CHW Community Hospital OB Department, the second busiest in the area, saw over 500 births. Thanks to community generosity, the OB team acquired new equipment and training, improving patient outcomes. The new equipment includes sleeper sofas in the patient rooms for their partners’ comfort and a wireless fetal monitoring system to enhance patient safety during labor and delivery. Philanthropy also gave the OB team the opportunity to attend the Spinning Babies Workshop, which teaches new techniques that optimize delivery. These improvements have led to a ranking of 6th out of 67 hospitals in Michigan.
The 2024 Corewell Health Greenville Hospital Charity Ball and Corewell Health Greenville Hospital Golf Day raised more than $134,000 to support cancer wellness services at the Greenville Cancer Care Center. Services including oncology massage, acupuncture, and salon care are important to the healing process. Funds raised at these events have been designated to the cancer wellness endowment, making sure that patients can access this holistic care during their treatment without any financial burden.
Before counseling I was so lost and felt hopeless. My depression and anxiety were sky rocketing. Despite having been a student who received mostly As and Bs, I was failing classes. I slept more than normal both day and night, cried and felt numb at night. As hard as I tried to find enjoyment, it wasn’t there anymore. My close friends and family could tell I wasn’t myself. I didn’t tell anyone what was going on or what was wrong. I tried to push through and continued to be the me that everyone knew and loved because I didn’t want anyone to worry. I knew one “are you okay?” was going to send me into a spiral. I never knew when it was going to get better. Then, I decided it was time I needed to get help; I realized I could not endure this pain and hopelessness on my own and wanted to learn how to help myself. Visiting the clinic at my school was the best thing I could have done. It wasn’t an instant fix but having someone see it from the outside, instead of being stuck in my own thoughts, someone who would genuinely listen and try to help, gave me hope. I could not be more grateful for the clinic and for those who made it possible for people like me to get help when they need it. You never know what someone is going through, and having a place to turn to where you know you’ll get support is an amazing thing.
