Adolescent and Young Adult Program

This program exists thanks to the vision, leadership, and generous investment of the Gilbert Family Foundation.

Gilbert Family Adolescent and Young Adult program at Corewell Health Children's.

Bridging the gap between pediatric and adult care

Corewell Health Children’s hematology and oncology serves infants, children, teens, and young adults. Our specialists recognize the unique care and navigation services that teens and young adults need after a cancer diagnosis. Through the vision, leadership and generous donation of the Gilbert Family Foundation, Corewell Health Children’s developed one of the first Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) programs in the state of Michigan. The Gilbert Family AYA Program serves AYAs in active treatment or post-therapy survivorship.

A cancer diagnosis often leaves adolescents and young adults with unanswered questions and uncertainty about their futures. We help to provide answers to those unanswered questions. Our oncologists are specialists who have dedicated many years to treating common and rare cancers. Our team is compiled of licensed and certified health professionals that will assist you with understanding and adjusting to the diagnosis, treatment plan and life after treatment.

AYA patients receive outstanding, state-of-the-art treatment from top rated oncologists, opportunities for fertility preservation, access to available clinical trials, integrative medicine and natural therapies, psychosocial support, and opportunities for social engagement experiences. Our team works in collaboration with the patient and their support system (family, friends, or spouse) to create individualized treatment plans to successfully navigate the patient through treatment and beyond. Your care is our top priority.
